has been the qualifying quartet contest for the Barbershop Music Festival 2023 in Dortmund

History of the Coesfeld Cup


First held in 1995 in Goch, this BinG! competition has been taken to each new venue of the Harmony College over the years and has become a permanent institution within the BinG! year. In honor of the Harmony College, which was held for the first time in 1991 as a chorus workshop in Coesfeld, the annual competition was named "Coesfeld Cup" in 1998. It is thus the oldest barbershop competition in Germany.

In terms of importance, the Coesfeld Cup is in no way inferior to the German Championships, which are held every 2 years at the Barbershop Music Festival. The BinG! competition rules apply and and every preceding competition serves as qualification for the German Barbershop Quartet Championships.

The medal winners - i.e. the singers of the three best placed quartets of the competition - are invited to become members of the BinG! medalist chorus "Heavy Medal".

Abour Barbershop Music Festival 2023

"A Cappella Love" is the motto under which from May 18 through 21, 2023 about 400 singers from all over Germany and the world will meet again in Konzerthaus Dortmund. Together, these are over 40 choruses and quartets, which put the hall in very special vibrations during this weekend. 

Experience the German championships for Barbershop choruses and Barbershop quartets or let yourself be carried away in the evening gala shows on Friday and Saturday. Exhilarating performances and the 4-part a cappella sound of barbershop harmony singing are waiting for you.
