Robert Ross

Quartet and chorus coach & BHS performance category judge

Music and performing arts have always been a passion and have become an integral part of Robert's life, leading him to be part of the Toronto Northern Lights for more than 16 years. Robert served as the Northern Lights' senior performance coach and has won numerous international medals with the chorus, including gold in 2013. Robert has performed worldwide, including in China, Sweden, Germany, England, the Netherlands, the USA and Canada. He was bass singer with Ripple Effect, three-time Ontario District MBHA Quartet Champion and 2018 World Mixed Quartet Champion runners-up. They were also the first Ontario District Mixed Quartet Champions in 2019 and represented the Ontario District at the international BHS competition in 2022. Robert was also assistant director of the Simcoe Gentlemen of Harmony and is vice president of Youth-in-Harmony for the Ontario District of the BHS. He is also a member of the board of Sing Canada Harmony. Robert is proud to be the performance director of the incredible Voices Unlimited. The latest project in his barbershop career is singing lead in the quartet Northern Pursuit.

Robert is a sought-after coach for quartets and choruses around the world and has lectured at various Harmony Colleges and Harmony University. He enjoys working with artists of all levels to help them use their own emotions to create authentic and credible interpretations that enable them to take the audience on an emotional journey. Robert has achieved a major goal in barbershop by becoming a performance judge for the Barbershop Harmony Society.
