European Harmony Brigade

A Harmony Brigade is a unique barbershop event where experienced singers spend an entire weekend focusing on quartet singing. The highlight: all participants learn a shared repertoire of 12 challenging songs in advance. Once there, you can simply choose three other singers and perform a song together – and then move on to the next quartet.

How it works:

• Prerequisites: Participants need experience in quartet singing and a willingness to prepare the pieces independently in advance.

• Experience: The focus is on enjoying spontaneous singing with changing quartets, with everyone being well prepared.

• Challenge: The pieces are arranged to a high standard and require a certain level of vocal and musical confidence.

Highlights of a Harmony Brigade:

• Run-throughs: Preparatory meetings before the event help participants practise the songs and make initial contacts.

• Quartet competition: On the very first evening, random quartets are formed, which perform after a short rehearsal.

• Preparedness Check: Before taking part in the big Saturday evening show, a "checker" checks whether you have mastered the songs.

The Grand Finale:
On Saturday evening, all participants will perform as the ‘Brigade Chorus’ and present selected pieces from the repertoire. In addition, quartets can apply to perform on their own – whether as an established ensemble or a quartet formed on the spot.
